Seek is a project that I worked on with multiple people in the Horror Jam. As a level designer I worked on creating block outs and matching the game setting to our vision.
As the Level Designer my job was to research, create blockouts, and prototype levels.
My role as the Game Designer was to help the programmer with coming up with ideas for mechanics and helping to find how certain mechanics can be implemented.
For this project I researched how caves would look within a fantasy environment, I also needed to find a way to blend two different lights that the player will be able to easily differentiate since one will be the main lighting for the level and the other will damage the player once it comes into contact with it.
For the final scene I came to the conclusion that the ambient lighting should be one of the more common plant life I saw in caves in my research, mushrooms, which will allow me to create some small platforms for certain areas of the map to build jumping puzzles while still ensuring the player can see within the level.
